Torn Space creates theater. We view theater as a medium occuring in real time, incorporating the varying disciplines of the arts and media, in order to produce an experience vaguely representative in narration and largely conveyed towards the senses. The company seeks a balance between imagery and narrative structure, in order to achieve an environment that entertains and challenges the audience’s expectation of what theater can be. We strongly value the artistic expressions of other disciplines and incorporate them into our design elements in order to better realize our texts within the context of contemporary culture. Torn Space offers a venue for actors, composers, sculptors, video artists and designers, with the aim of creating an experience unique to the possibilities of live theater. Torn Space was founded by Dan Shanahan and Melissa Meola.
