My Voice Has an Echo in It

By Temporary Distortion | Part of the Response Performance Festival (2016)

August 19-20
Adam Mickiewicz Dramatic Circle
612 Fillmore Avenue, Buffalo NY 14212
This durational performance runs from 5:00 pm -11:00 pm

MY VOICE HAS AN ECHO IN IT features a six-hour durational performance of live music, spoken text and video set within a freestanding, soundproof environment. While watching the performers through two-way mirrors, audience participants also experience music ranging from drifty ambient sounds to erasure poetry to raucous punk-inspired anthems. Complex and densely layered, Temporary Distortion creates an intimate concert atmosphere where everyone has a front row seat. Audience members are encouraged to come and go throughout the 6-hour duration of the event.

Critical Response

“Such a rich, evocative space, I wanted to get lost in it. I stayed for three hours but wish I’d been there for all six.”
– American Theater Magazine

“Takes the concert experience and turns it into something private and lux.”
– Time Out NY
