PERFORMANCE FESTIVAL<\/strong> (2016)<\/h5>\n<p><strong>August 18-21<\/strong><br \/> <strong>Silo City<\/strong><br \/> <strong>20 Childs Street (now Silo City Way),\u00a0Buffalo, NY<\/strong><br \/> <strong><em>Performance slots will be scheduled between 6pm &#8211; 10pm<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>BURDEN is Torn Space\u2019s fourth and newest performance installation for Silo City. The project is being\u00a0designed for Marine A, a vast grain elevator with 120ft tall interconnecting concrete silos, as well as the SS Columbia\u00a0\u2013\u00a0a National Historic Landmark \u2013 and the last surviving passenger ship of its kind. The project will draw upon the work of George Gershwin\u2019s <em>Rhapsody in Blue<\/em>, the fashion of chanteuse entertainers, the perceived\u00a0luxury\u00a0of Ralph Lauren, and reflections on sympathy and burden. The production will transform Marine A into an immersive experience of light, sound and cinema, while the SS Columbia* will provide a stunning opportunity to experience not only a historic vessel with its original ballroom but also the surrounding waterways. Audience members will experience an intimate and controlled tour highlighting Marine A, the surrounding landscape, and the first and second floors of the ship.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"null\">Critical Response to Torn Space Theater&#8217;s site-specific work:<\/h3>\n<p><em>&#8220;Storehouse\u2026 is an explosion of what \u201ctheater\u201d means.
