Always looking to create new spaces and new forms of agency, Brendan\u2019s projects take on hybrid forms: part Ballet, part queer dance hall, part political protest&#8230;always rooted in collaboration and fostering solidarity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This project is the first phase of a long-term collaboration where Brendan Fernandes will create a public work of art and original performance on the grounds of Torn Space.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>About Brendan Fernandes:<\/b> Brendan Fernandes (b. 1979, Nairobi, Kenya) is an internationally recognized Canadian artist working at the intersection of dance and visual arts. Currently based out of Chicago, Brendan\u2019s projects address issues of race, queer culture, migration, protest and other forms of collective movement. Always looking to create new spaces and new forms of agency, Brendan\u2019s projects take on hybrid forms: part Ballet, part queer dance hall, part political protest&#8230;always rooted in collaboration and fostering solidarity. His projects have shown at the 2019 Whitney Biennial (New York); the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New York); the Museum of Modern Art (New York); The Getty Museum (Los Angeles); the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa); MAC (Montreal); among a great many others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tasting Menu developed in collaboration with Chef Juana Lomeli T.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Juana Lomeli T, also known as Juana Chiles, has dedicated her life to the investigation of Mexican cookery, from chiles, corn, herbs, spices, vegetables, etc. She worked as a consumer advocate and helped in investigations on Mexican eating habits. She has written books and articles in Mexico and the USA, including El Chile y otros Picantes, El Mundo de los Frijoles, and Gu\u00eda del Tequila con Artes de Mexico.
