As a new generation of listeners, artists, and industry players challenge the outdated perspectives existing within the hip-hop community, it is imperative to create spaces where women are celebrated for their contributions to the most influential sound in the world. In Buffalo, where the hip-hop scene is reaching a new frontier, many women who are involved in the\u00a0musical arts have a two-fold mission \u2013 perfecting their gift and nurturing their community through their gift.<\/p>\n<p>Past artists featured in <strong>Ladies First <\/strong>have included: Stacy VanBlarcom, DJ Lil Gab, Rapper A.I. The Anomaly, graffiti artist Ashley Kay, DJ Little Italy, DJ Lisa Lux, Yanava Hawkins, Maggie Giamo, Pretty Bulli, Audi3k, DJ Liberty, Lulu &amp; Friends, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Honoring the 5 elements of hip-hop, these ladies showcased their talent and told their stories along with a handful of women propagating hip-hop. Attendees learned not only what they do, but why they do it.
