This fall, the Burchfield Penney Art Center will present a retrospective exhibition celebrating 12 years of designing site-specific performance at Silo City, a campus of grain elevators along the Buffalo River. The exhibition will take place throughout the entire East Gallery and Project Space.
Spanning twelve original site-specific productions created at Silo City between 2013 and 2024, this retrospective exhibition at the Burchfield Penney Art Center examines Torn Space Theater’s exploration of performance, place, and public ritual. Through a constellation of photographs, artifacts, video, sound, and ephemera, the exhibition reactivates a body of work designed for a campus of grain elevators, processing facilities and nature.
As a company whose work has represented the United States internationally and helped redefine Buffalo’s cultural landscape, Torn Space continues to demonstrate that world-class artistic innovation can be created and sustained in our community.
