Our Work

The Torn Space Season consists of four pillars of programming: Site-Specific Experiences, Mainstage Productions, Independent Artist Performances, and Agents of Change. Site-specific experiences are original performances designed for the spaces they inhabit, Mainstage Productions are published scripted works produced and presented with TST’s innovative aesthetic, Independent Artist Performances are presentations by visiting or resident artists in our multi-use campus, and Agents of Change is TST’s annual educational outreach program in partnership with Lafayette International High School.

Torn Space’s emphasis on formal exploration, original texts, multimedia performance and interdisciplinary design forms the basis of our original performances. Through a collaborative working process, we’re able to draw upon a wide range of artistic talent throughout the region in order to produce unique, critically acclaimed theater. Works are developed through workshops and experimentation. The productions premiere in Western New York and are designed to travel nationally and internationally. We have also created site-specific productions designed around the architecture and mythology of historically significant buildings located within WNY. These performances provide the community with an opportunity to engage in a unique theatrical experience while giving them an entirely new perspective on often-neglected, but treasured Buffalo structures.
