Seeking: Box Office and Front of House Manager
Job Description
The role of the Box Office and Front of House Manager acts as the direct line of communication between patrons and visitors to Torn Space Theater events. Managing ticket reservations and complimentary tickets for donors and company members, answering questions from patrons about upcoming events, and facilitating smooth audience entry to performances is a key function in the community experience around Torn Space events. The ideal candidate for this role would be friendly, organized, able to keep calm under pressure, interested in experimental theater, and have strong communication skills and experience using electronic ticketing software such as Vendini/AudienceView or similar.
Box Office and Front of House Manager Duties include:

- Meet with Managing Director 1-2 months before shows to review box office details and schedule.
- Manage incoming questions and ticket reservations requests from patrons.
- Communicate with Managing Director/Artistic Director about the nature of upcoming performances to be able to answer patron questions accurately. (Seating, structure of event
- Coordinate reservations for complimentary tickets for individual donors and corporate sponsors according to giving level.
- Coordinate number of complimentary tickets per show for production team and actors.

- Coordinate preparation and set up of box office station with Production Stage Manager, including signage, tables, programs, Torn Space tablet and petty cash
- Manage cash and credit ticket transactions on-site.
- Keep track of show capacity and tickets available, coordinate any last minute seat additions or subtractions with Production Stage Manager and Artistic Director.
- Provide relevant performance information to patrons including time length of show, warnings about nudity/strobe/haze/etc, or reminders about safety and expected behaviors.
- Coordinate audience entry for start of show with Production Stage Manager.

- Use the Box Office Report template provided by Managing Director to track and record ticket sales.
- Provide cash/checks collected for tickets and donations to Artistic Director at the end of each day.
- Special Events – Fundraisers, artist talks, non-production company activities
- Coordinate box office needs of non-production events with Production Stage Manager on a case-by-case basis.
- Pay Rate: $15/hr
- Hours: Vary depending on show. On performance nights, generally 2-3 hours each performance. The two weeks leading up to major productions may involve regular email communication.
