Torn Space Theater’s Annual Giving Campaign
Torn Space brings groundbreaking work to our region, and you are a crucial part of ensuring our sustainability. With a 2021-2022 Annual Appeal goal of $30,000.00, your unrestricted gift not only supports our operating expenses, it allows us to create original new work, bring visiting artists to our community, and support our talented local artists.
This summer Torn Space welcomed back audiences to live performance in our ambitious RESPONSE: Performance Series, which once again delivered work unlike anything else performed in Buffalo – all in outdoor spaces. Our distinct, contemporary performances could not have been achieved without your ongoing support.
Torn Space spent the previous 18 months completing capital improvements to our home in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood. With only two theaters located on the East Side, we committed ourselves to the community. Our substantial investment in our home theater included installing moveable walls that open the theater to a new courtyard space, where audiences can enjoy a performance in an outdoor setting.
Our efforts to engage the entire community in thought-provoking theater kept us busy! We were able to collaborate with students of Lafayette International High School in Agents of Change; create a performance designed for Artpark and our Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood with Intersection/Prototype; premier Five Songs for Fillmore Avenue, a site-specific work conceived by Kenneth Collins of Temporary Distortion in our new design studio courtyard; and return to Silo City for our annual early harvest ritual, and the sun sets in golden circles.
We hope you will consider Torn Space worth your investment with a financial gift so that we may continue to create relevant and dynamic work.
We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming performance!
